Where do I collect the van and bell tent from?
Your campervan and bell tent are collected from our business address – 4 Cascade Road, Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, OX15 5FH. Hook Norton is a village in Oxfordshire, situated approximately 9 miles from the town of Banbury which has a train station.
What time can I collect the campervan and bell tent and what time do they need to be returned?
You can collect between 2pm and 4pm, unless otherwise agreed in advance. An exact collection time must be agreed by prior arrangement, no later than 7 days before hire, or for last minute bookings, the day before hire. During busy periods a collection time slot may be given by Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. Please allow up to one hour for us to complete the handover process to as we need to run through some essential information so we can make sure you have a smooth and enjoyable holiday.
Please contact us if you would like to make other arrangements as, if we have the availability, we will try and accommodate your request.
On your day of return, you must arrive back at our business address no later than 11am. An exact return time, so far as is reasonably practicable, must be agreed in advance and certainly no later than collection day. Please allow up to 45 minutes for us to complete the necessary checks.
Better still, return to us no later than 10:30am to receive a 2 for 1 breakfast voucher for Hook Norton Brewery, 5 minutes from our address, to set you up for your onward journey.
What happens at handover?
On collection day, if you have not already provided you documents in advance, we will check your Driving Licence and other required documentation and take copies.
Once we have completed all of the paperwork, if you are hiring the campervan, we will then give you a tour of the campervan, inside and out, run through any operating instructions and answer any questions you might have. You’ll receive everything discussed in a manual, which is left in the campervan for your convenience, to use as a reference during your holiday.
If you’re hiring the bell tent, we will give you verbal and written instructions on how to erect it and some safety advice regarding the log burning stove.
On your return, we will complete an inspection to ensure it is in the same condition as when it was collected. We will also check that all of the itinerary items are present and that you have all of your belongings.
What documents do I need to provide?
Before or on collection, all drivers must provide the following:
- Driving Licence photocard and paper copy if applicable.
- Online DVLA Licence Check Code, (generated within 7 days of hire), you can get this here: https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number
- Two forms of proof of address, dated within 90 days of the hire date, as follows:
- One utility bill (exc. mobile phone)
- Further proof of address (council tax, TV/Internet/landline, bank statement, credit card statement, mortgage statement)
Due to our strict insurance requirements, your rental may be cancelled without refund if we are unable to check or validate any of the above on collection.
Who can drive the campervan or hire the bell tent?
Drivers must be between 23 and 75 years of age, having held a full valid Driving Licence for at least 24 months and have no more than 6 penalty points imposed on their Driving Licence. Please see our T’s & C’s for further information.
Bell tent hirers must be minimum 23 years of age and the group size must be a maximum of 5 people.
Where do we leave our car whilst on holiday?
We can provide off-road parking for one car at our business address, covered by CCTV. However Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss caused during the hire period. Vehicles are left at the owner’s risk.
Are pets allowed?
Well behaved dogs maybe accepted in Henry only. This is on a case by case basis and at the discretion of Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. Hirers may also be required to pay a deep clean surcharge, if the campervan or bell tent is not returned in an acceptable condition or is heavily soiled in dog hairs.
Is smoking or vaping allowed?
No, Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. have a strict no smoking and vaping policy in or within close proximity to the campervan, awning or bell tent. Please see our T’s & C’s for further details, as charges apply should this be noted on the return inspection.

Will the campervan get cold at night?
You’ll be snug as bugs in rugs throughout the year. Our campervan is fitted with brand new, integrated diesel heating from 2021. In addition to this it has full Dacron insulation, is ply lined, has carpeted walls, doors and exposed metal. Black window curtains are also fitted throughout and the campervan comes with a thermal windscreen cover for warmth and privacy.
What deposit do I need?
We require a non-refundable £150 deposit to secure your campervan booking. £100 for the bell tent without the campervan. If your booking is affected by a Covid lockdown, either in your local area, ours or the area you’ll be travelling to, we will do our very best to accommodate any date changes. A security deposit of £750 is required a minimum of 7 days before your collection day. For customers requesting hire of the Glawning bell tent, with or without the campervan, a security deposit of £1000 is required. This deposit is fully refundable, within 10 days, if the campervan and/or bell tent is returned in the same condition as it was found on collection day.
Is there a limit on mileage?
No, we have no limit on mileage covered during your hire period. Explore to your heart’s content. Whether you stick to VW campervan hire in Oxfordshire or travel further afield that’s fine with us!
How many people does the campervan seat and sleep?
Our campervans legally seat 5 whilst driving, 3 in the front and 2 in the back. At night they sleep 2 in the pop-top tent in the roof and 2 on the rock and roll bed downstairs. In Henry the weight limit on the upper beds is a combined weight of 25 stone (160kg). In Lola the weight limit is 120kg, so we recommend one adult or two children.
How much does it cost?
Our pricing is highly competitive for VW campervan hire – Oxfordshire. Our structure is divided into Low (November-February), Mid (March, April, May & October) and High season (June-September), for a minimum of 3 nights hire.

Can I cancel a booking?
Sometimes life has a way of messing up your plans. Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. recognises that, so we will do everything we can to change your booking dates if that’s what you request. If this isn’t possible for either you or Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. then the deposit is non-refundable. The following cancellation charges apply:
- 6 weeks or less prior to collection day: Full hire cost including the booking deposit is chargeable
- More than 6 weeks prior to collection day : Refund of the hire cost minus the booking deposit
What do I do if I have an accident or breakdown?
In the unlikely event that you breakdown or have an accident, our campervan hire includes 24/7 RAC roadside assistance. Details can be found in the welcome pack given to you at handover, including the number to call, 07543 813903. During your holiday Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd. is on call 24/7 to give you piece of mind.
What does the insurance cover and what is the excess?
The hire price includes fully comprehensive insurance for one named driver, between the ages of 23-75, with unlimited mileage and breakdown cover.
The excess is covered by the security deposit, which is £750. This needs to be paid a minimum of 7 days before your collection day but is fully refundable within 10 days of return if the campervan is returned in the same condition it was found on collection day and after inspection by Cotswolds to Coast Campers Ltd.
